High school junior Jaylen Gilbert, scored 39 points in the opening round of the District Tournament for the host, Centennial Stars. Gilbert is a 1st team All-City performer in both football and basketball. Look for Gilbert's football recruitment to pick up over the next few months, as he hits the summer camp circuit. Last fall, Gilbert led Centennial to a City League North Division Championship, and the Stars are favorites to repeat in 2020.
As a football prospect, Gilbert is still growing, and his college position is undetermined. He has a strong arm and continues to progress as a passer; so quarterback is always an option. We see him as an Athlete that could play tight-end/H-back on offense, and possibly linebacker on defense. At 6'3, 225, as a junior, the possibilities for his future are limitless. And don’t close the door on basketball, especially after he dropped 39 points in Centennial’s opening game of the District Tournament vs Licking Valley. Cap City's own Chandler Tennant captured the performance. Check out the video below for the highlights.
