2020 Week One Film Room

A Look at Some Performances That Caught Our Eye From Week One of the Football Season

The following players stood out to us in week one, but there were several huge performances in the area. After week three, through signing day, we will release weekly film reviews.

Daniel Tooson - C/O '22

Name: Defensive Lineman

High School: Bishop Hartley

Twitter: @DanielTooson

Notes: Tooson continues to improve his technique on the D-line, and turned in a solid performance against a very good Moeller front. Tooson, a great student and high character guy, will be a key to the Hawks success in 2020.

Judah Holtzclaw - C/O '21

Name: Quarterback

High School: Westerville Central

Twitter: @JudahHoltzclaw

Notes: Already recognized as one of the areas best QBs, Holtzclaw showed improved athleticism, footwork and accuracy in week one. Look for a big 2020 from Holtzclaw and his team.

Kaden Saunders - C/O '22

Name: Wide Receiver

High School: Westerville South

Twitter: @KSaunders03

Notes: Arguably the state’s top receiver in his class, Saunders continues to show he is performing on a different level. Last week he scored 3 TDs in limited action, and expects to see double teams all night in this week’s matchup. Just another test for the young receiver, but I like his odds of posting a high score on the "test.”

Jaylen Jennings - C/O '22

Name: Running Back

High School: Harvest Prep

Twitter: @JaylenJennings4

Notes: Statistically, Jennings had one of the best performances in the area. He has been a bit overlooked for not being at a bigger school. That is a huge a mistake in my opinion, as Jennings’ athleticism translates against any level of competition. Look for Jennings to put up big numbers in 2020.

Dijon Jennings - C/O '22

Name: Quarterback

High School: Reynoldsburg

Twitter: @1_Way_

Notes: With offers from Kentucky and Eastern Michigan after only his sophomore season, I wondered what Jennings would do for an encore. He answered with a huge game, accounting for 235 yards and 5 TDs. If Jennings keeps this up, expect that offer list to grow. He is a true dual threat who will cause fits for opposing defenses.

Bryon Threats - C/O '21

Name: Athlete

High School: Dublin Coffman

Twitter: @JiggyBoyoso

Notes: Already committed to the University of Cincinnati, Threats could've easily taken his foot off the gas. Threats had different plans by kicking off 2020 with 195 total yards and 4 TDs. Coach Fickell and his staff found a gem in Threats.

Sonny Styles - C/O '23

Name: Athlete

High School: Pickerington Central

Twitter: @sonnystyles_

Notes: The biggest statement in Central Ohio in week one may have been made by Sophomore Sonny Styles. He made huge plays in a nationally televised game and it led to a handful of D1 offers, headlined by Ohio State and Notre Dame. Styles is a special talent who could be a top five player in Ohio for his class.

Stephan Byrd - C/O '22

Name: Running Back

High School: Canal Winchester

Twitter: @StephanByrd42

Notes: The big, physical back rushed for 145 yards and a TD in week one; but for him, those numbers are pedestrian. Byrd put on muscle in the offseason and improved his speed. Known for being more of a power back, look for Byrd to prove he can be a threat to take any given carry to the house in 2020.
